No Mr. President, the Private Sector IS NOT fine...

It was President Obama's latest ridiculously out of touch statement. "The Private Sector is doing just fine." He then went on to claim it's poor poverty ridden government that really needs help. (I know...a liberal claiming government is in dire straits...never saw that one coming!)  There's only one major issue with Obama's math...IT'S FALSE!

First and foremost, still 8% of Americans are unemployed, three full years after Obama claimed unemployment wouldn't go above that number. Just as importantly, an additional 10% of Americans are underemployed...working part time instead of full time. (According to Gallup.)

Secondly, the Private Sector ALWAYS bore the brunt of the recession. Government, friends, actually has grown significantly since December of 2007.

Take a look, friends. Federal government continued to add jobs until about First Quarter 2011, at which point they dropped a few but still remain 11.6% in the black in terms of hiring since December 2007. State governments are at a slight negative, a drop of -1.3% aggregate since 2007, but even so they saw a spike for a solid two years and did not begin any real drops until around 2011. Local governments are at an aggregate of -2.8%, but like states, they didn't even begin to drop below their starting point until 2010.

Now for the why states and local governments are dropping as is the Federal government from their four year high: THEY WERE TOO BIG TO BEGIN WITH! That's right, friends. Government was doing too much, and yes, had too many bureaucrats.  Now, all of a sudden, poor old government is being forced to move toward living within it's means. It's just not fair is what it is...government has to live within it's means, so now it's suffering.

Sorry, Mr. Obama, government is not suffering. It's just finally catching up with the realities the rest of us have dealt with for quite some time now.  Government was spending too much, employing too many redundant bureaucrats, wasting our hard earned dollars. Now they are seeing some cuts in their spending (which was too high to begin with). Poor government.

This, my friends, is the President we have. This President who believes government being asked to cut their spending like the rest of us had to do years ago is just plain cruel. This President wants to stay our President. We must not let him. Let's elect Somebody Else in 2012.

Obama: Don’t “spike the football”…unless you need to get re-elected...

It was one year ago that U.S. Navy SEALs successfully killed Osama Bin Laden.  Then, about ten minutes later, Barrack Obama proceeded to take the credit.  Makes sense, after all…he did make a decision that any President with an IQ higher than a grapefruit would make…why shouldn’t he take all the credit (even though the SEALs did all the work and were the real heroes).  Then, ever one to try to ride two horses with one rear end, Obama refused to release the pictures because, and I quote, “we don’t want to spike the football.”
After that, Obama’s approval managed to creep above 50% for the first time in over a year…for about fifteen minutes (in case you’re keeping score, the President’s approval rating hasn’t been above 50% since May of 2011). Suddenly, Obama was humble…ish…about it. Then an election year rolled around. Now Obama’s on thin ice, regardless of what the Drive-By Media is telling you, with voters…left with minimal successes to trumpet when asking for a second term, the President has to bring up the one thing he managed to not screw up: the killing of Bin Laden.
He can’t talk about the “success” of his stimulus, because there wasn’t any: Remember, if we passed the stimulus unemployment wouldn’t go above 8%...it hasn’t dropped below 8% since.  (Not to mention the only way he can claim it as a success is if he moves the goal line with “it would’ve been worse if we hadn’t acted,” even though it can’t be proven.) He can’t talk about the “success” of Obamacare: it was supposed to lower healthcare costs and instead they went up. (Also it’s about as popular as a Red Sox fan in the Bronx.)  Then there’s Obama’s billions in “Green Energy” subsidies that have done nothing to lower gas prices (but at least a lot of the companies who were invested in have gone bankrupt so there’s that).
He can’t talk about his policy successes. So he’s got to talk about killing Bin Laden. A lot.  He’s got to go to Afghanistan and trumpet it a year later.  One can’t help but ask if this isn’t the same President who talked about not wanting to give Al Qaeda a “recruiting tool”?  Using legitimate interrogation tactics on the battlefield to save American lives (that are made to look like patty cakes by the practices of Al Qaeda) are going to be used to recruit…but not going on a celebration tour a year after the killing of Al Qaeda’s leader WON’T be?  Sure. Makes sense.
Bottom line: The President is now “spiking the football.” It’s incredibly clear why: he wants a second term…he needs SOMETHING to trumpet…and his legislative record sure isn’t it. So now it’s just fine to “spike the football.” After all, it’s all about Obama.
Soldiers lives? Never mind, Obama has to get re-elected.  Propriety? Never mind, Obama’s has to get re-elected.  Not making a fool of yourself? Never mind, Obama has to get re-elected. “Don’t spike the football?”  Never mind (you guessed it), Obama has to get re-elected.  After all, it’s all about Obama. Not America.

Hank Williams Jr, Double Standards, and the Hitler Rule

This past week, Hank Williams, Jr. made a comparison on Fox News' Fox and Friends. Since then, Williams has been suspended from ESPN and then was either fired by ESPN or decided to end his own relationship with ESPN over the suspension for having "stepped on the Toes of The First Amendment Freedom of Speech," depending on who you ask. (1) Wow.

In case you haven't seen/heard the comment, here it is:

First and foremost, yes, it was over the top to compare Obama to Hitler.  Absolutely.  I will deal with that shortly.  That said, the number of liberals who called George W. Bush Hitler can not be enumerated.

So let's make sure we keep THAT in perspective. Especially because Williams didn't say "Obama is Hitler." He said Boehner playing golf with Obama was like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Nentanyahu playing golf with Hitler. For the record, it's an overstatement, to say the least. Obama does not want to physically kill anyone. He just wants to remake the nation into a socialist image.  No, Obama is not Hitler.  He's just a really bad President.

That said, there is a tremendous double standard in the Media.  As we showed above, the number of liberals who called George W. Bush Hitler can not be enumerated.  (Seriously, if you didn't click the link the first time, DO IT). There was no widespread demand that these lefties resign or be fired.  Check out this MoveOn.org Ad from Post 9-11. Both that ad and the image above were far more blatant, and there was no demand for firing or protests against MoveOn.org by the mainstream media.

Yet when a right-wing celebrity does half the of what Moveon.org did, there is demand that they are fired.  It's a ridiculous double standard.  Personally, I do not think anyone should be fired or boycotted because of a momentary stupid statement unless it was a direct threat to somebody.  However, directly comparing a US President to Hitler in a well produced television ad that went through conceptual approval, production, editing, etc is something else entirely.

Now, to you, Mr. Williams, I have a few things to add: One, not a good comparision. I mean seriously, Bocephus, HILTER? Obama is a terrible President, but he's not Hitler. He's not even close to Hitler. Jimmy Carter? Absolutely! Millard Filmore? Why not. Random Socialist executive in Europe? Go for it. But not Hitler man.

However, your free speech has not been abridged. Please understand me when I say this: Only government can abridge someone's freedom of speech. ESPN, as your employer, has every right to suspend or fire you if you say something that they feel harms their image. Sorry man, it's true.

Now to the "Hitler Rule," or perhaps you know it better as Godwin's Law: Godwin's Law states that "As a...discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1."  (For those of you from Palm Beach County, FL, that means 100% certainty of one side comparing the other to Hitler.)  While Godwin's Law began as an online rule, it ultimately evolved into what I call the Hitler Rule that "if you bring up a Hitler analogy in a debate that is not absolutely perfect, you have forfeited the debate."

Hank Williams, Jr. did fail the Hitler Rule when he made this comparison.  As much as I criticize Obama, he's definitely not Hitler. I've said many times that I would take the worst President in history over the most benevolent dictator or king, and Hitler was far from benevolent.

In short, Hank Williams, Jr. should not have compared Obama to Hitler.  There should not have been a threat of him being fired.  He shouldn't have even been suspended from Monday Night Football.  He made a stupid error.  It shouldn't cost him a job.  Besides...does anyone else want to watch Monday football without this:

I know I sure don't...this song is as much a part of my Monday night during football season as "Happy Birthday" is to the celebration of the anniversary of my birth.  In truth,  people need to stop looking for chances to be offended and learn to get over small mistakes. Oh, and for Heaven's sake people, figure out who the First Amendment protects you against! (Got that, Bocephus?)
